Yamasaki’s Arches
For the Seattle World’s Fair, Minuro Yamasaki was tapped to design the Science Pavilion complex, which included a number of arches.
While the pavilion is now home to the Pacific Science Center, Yamasaki’s arches and the surrounding buildings he designed remain essentially untouched since 1962.
Last weekend, I took my daughter there under dark grey skies. When we were leaving, the clouds had parted to reveal a winter blue backdrop to Yamasaki’s work.
Captured on 01/22/12 with iPhone 4. Post-production in Instagram.
